About Us

What began with a transformative trip to South Africa and a passion for elephant conservation has evolved into a broader mission powered by Bitcoin.

From Elephant orphans to Wildlife Conservation

Our journey began with a deep love for nature and a life-changing encounter with orphaned elephants in South Africa — and grew into a mission to support wildlife conservation, education, and community empowerment through our Izindlovu Fund.

What started as a small fundraising effort for HERD, South Africa's first elephant orphanage, grew into a broader mission to protect wildlife and support local communities. Over time, we expanded our work to include anti-poaching efforts, environmental education, and innovative initiatives like Bitcoin in the Wild, which uses Bitcoin to fund conservation more efficiently and transparently.

Rooted in compassion and driven by action, we collaborate directly with trusted local partners on the ground to ensure that every donation creates lasting impact for wildlife, people, and the planet.

Our Story

Inspired by Elephants, Driven by Impact with Bitcoin

Our founders Helen and Ben - partners in life, business, and their shared passion for nature. Their journey began on their honeymoon in South Africa in 1999, where they were deeply moved by the country's wild beauty.

Twenty years later, returning with our children, they visited the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and discovered HERD, a sanctuary for orphaned elephants. Inspired by their work, they launched a fundraising campaign from Belgium, which led to the creation of the Izindlovu Fund — named in honour of the elephants that touched our hearts.

What started as a mission to help elephants has evolved into a commitment to wildlife protection, anti-poaching, and environmental education — now powered by Bitcoin. Through the Bitcoin In The Wild initiative, they use Bitcoin's transparency and global reach to support conservation projects, protect nature, and inspire others to join us in creating real-world impact.

Izindlovu means "elephant" in Zulu — one of the major languages of South Africa. It symbolises strength, wisdom, family, and protection.

Our Mission

Working With Local People & Projects

We believe that Bitcoin can be beneficial for wildlife and nature conservation if organisations adopt the technology and get financial support from the Bitcoin community.

It is important for Bitcoin's impact to extend beyond human rights and welfare considerations to include animals' protection as well. Therefore, with our experience and knowledge of the Bitcoin ecosystem, we help our projects to embrace Bitcoin.
