By donating to Bitcoin in the Wild, you support wildlife education, elephant conservation, and rehabilitation initiatives in South Africa. Donations are held in a custodial wallet and managed in line with our mission and governance framework. We do not hold Bitcoin on behalf of third parties. Through Elephant Moments at the HERD stables, Bitcoin donations help provide wildlife education for students from surrounding communities. Funds are then sent to the self-custodied wallet of HERD to support the care of orphaned elephants, rehabilitation efforts, and the dedicated elephant carers who look after them every day. In the future we also want to support the HESC Rhino rehabilitation center.
Herd Elephant Orphanage & Jabulani Herd
With the growing numbers of displaced elephant calves, we need to rehabilitate orphaned baby elephants and give them a second chance in life.
The Challenge
Approximately every 25 minutes, an elephant is killed. Without action, there will be no African elephants left by 2040.
What the Herd Trust does
- Rescue and rehabilitate orphaned elephant calves
- Provide 24/7 care and monitoring
- Support social integration with the Jabulani Herd
- Protect and conserve natural habitats
Our Impact
By protecting vulnerable calves, Herd rebuild herds and strengthen ecosystems. Your support saves more than one life, it helps protect an entire species.
Rhino Rehabilitation — HESC Rhino Rehabilitation & Development
Rhino poaching has been driven by the demand for rhino horn in Asian countries. Rehabilitating rhinos involves round-the-clock monitoring.
Rhino Conservation
- Rescue orphaned rhino calves affected by poaching
- Provide intensive medical care and rehabilitation
- 24/7 monitoring and protection
- Prepare rhinos for eventual release into protected areas
Impact
Every rhino saved represents hope for the species. The work at HESC has helped rehabilitate numerous rhinos back to health.
